Paul Grosart
Paul describes themself as “a giant nerd for brains and feelings.” It makes sense that they assumed they’d become a therapist. But after earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Washington in 2014, they directed their expertise to the application of learning theories in the realm of domestic animals.
Paul started by working at rescue facilities and in service dog training where they identified positive reinforcement training as the approach that would be most beneficial over time, for both dogs and their human companions.
Paul instructs many of our group classes, using warm, engaging group dynamics to help human-dog teams build rapport, learn together, and expand the ways they communicate with each other. Paul also develops new classes, such as our popular Chaotic Canine course, and focuses on early puppy development.
They are deeply committed to aiding breeders and rescues and continually expand their knowledge of ethical breeding and new training practices, bringing the latest science-backed methods into our curricula.
In their free time, Paul and their dogs build teamwork through a wide range of sports, including rally, herding, scent work, and conformation. Paul also has a soft spot for tiny dogs, just ask their seven-pound chihuahua, Wesley, who lives a life of luxury, hunting bugs and basking in the sunlight. Dax, Paul’s smooth collie, is our beloved demo dog.
